Question:

What are the chances my Navy waiver will be approved?

I was medically DQ'd because of a -9.00 refraction in my right eye. My consult recommended my waiver. If it is denied can I still join. My ASVAB score was a 70. Does that help my chances of approval.

  1. If it is denied, you can't join. Since the upper limit of that standard is a refractive error of plus or minus eight diopters, your refractive error is not that far out of range for a waiver to be denied.

  2. I have a -8.00 in my left eye, yet my right eye is 20/20.  I was told I didn't need a waiver because of my right eye.  I don't know how the Navy works it, but I would guess that depending on your left eye eyesight might play a part in it.  I will say this, it will effect what jobs you will be able to get into.  Just keep trying and see what happens.

  3. is it something laser surgery can fix.  You can take tests to increase your asvab
