  1. the lifespan is about 10-15 years if you really take care of them and the chances of a budgie getting a tumor aren't common it happens more to big birds (parrots) you should take it to a vet if you suspect he/she has a tumor but it happens its only most common in older budgies.

  2. Captive budgies live for around 10-15 years, though most usually only live for about 5 due to malnutrition. If you only feed your budgie seeds, he wont be getting enough vitamins and will die after only a few years. However, If you are a good owner and feed your budgie fresh(never canned, its not good for them) fruits and veggies every day then he will most likely still be with you ten years from now. If your budgie wont eat his veggies, try chopping them smaller or giving the food to him whole. Budgies are very picky- mine won't eat anything unless i shave them into very thin slices with a veggie peeler. Also, make sure you have a separate food dish for the veggies and don't forget to take them out after about 3-4 hours or they'll spoil.

As for the tumors, they're only common in inbred birds. My budgies have all come from Petsmart and none have ever had a tumor. Your budgie has more of a chance of developing psittacosis than a tumor, but you shouldn't be worrying about that either. Also, the budgies that do have tumors dont develop them until around 3-7 years of age.

    Good luck with your budgie!
