  1. Better than some, but I think Paris has the better chance.

  2. if mexico was able to host the olympics, i dont see why the phils couldn't. we stand a good chance!

  3. Manila will win the bid... but nobody will come

  4. winter olympic,maybe.

  5. of course as long as we have the best olumpic place to impress the other countries...

  6. not even a bit.i mean we still have major financial problems that are not yet solved e.g. oil and rice prices.

  7. Chances are slim to none.

The Philippines should focus first on giving our local athletes better training and facilities before embarking on such an ambitious feat such as hosting the Olympics.

I hope France gets it though =)

  8. May be... in our DREAMS..

  9. I was thinking of saying none but after reconsidering I think Manila will end up among the top three and even win. Its up to you filipinos to show the world. There is a chance...

  10. I would say zero. The PI is a poor country.

  11. The Philippines should strive to get a gold medal first. That is one of the requirements for the bid. For now, no chance yet.

  12. philippines maybe a poor country but the host shares their cultures and manila is the best place to host the olympic games.

  13. Low chance of winning...

The Philippines is also bidding for the 2018 Asian Games...stage the Asian Games successfulul, then go for the Olympic bid!

  14. Brisbane has basically already got it in the bag

  15. It's very possible. I mean if they're holding the 2018 Asian Games why not the Olympics. The finals will be down to Manila and Brisbane.

  16. None at all.. Maybe a negative 10

  17. we could surely beat paris, philly, toronto, lima and brisbin but beirut is a class on its own.

  18. Chance? Nil, Zero, Walang pag-asa....

The Philippine government could not even afford to train athletes, how much more could it host the Olympics?

China spent billions of dollars for the 2008 Olympics, where would the Philippines get such big money?

  19. none in h**l. Sorry to be so blunt but the city just isn't prepared for it. As you can tell the Philippines isn't that serious with sending athletes to the Philippines so what hope do they have for hosting an Olympic event. The city is to crowded as it is and don't even get me started on the lack of facilities.

  20. I think our chances are zilch, zero, nada .  The Olympics, the sponsors and the TV televising the games all want to make as much $$ as possible.  And all of these will fight like h3ll not to award the games to the Philippines.  They know the situation in the Philippines well.  Remember Montreal, Canada.  It took them years after the games to recoup their cost.  Can you imagine, for a moment, how many Filipinos can afford the tickets?  Not only must the Philippines build athletic venues but must also sell all the tickets to make money.

The Philippines will have to build its economy on par with at least South Korea or Japan just to arouse the interest of Olympics officials

I am sorry to pop the bubble but the Philippines will not and cannot stage the Olympics in our lifetime.

  21. it could have a small chance as it never been held there. would think paris the most likely. How would the government be able to win them over if they cant do what they do best and do everything under the table. the rest of the world don't give into the corrupt way. No matter how many range rovers, private jets or apartments you give to the heads of the olympic comity they will not pick it that way. Corruption not an olympic sport yet.

would the athletes have to pay a thank you fare to the officials after they had competed?

don't worry i not having a dig at the philippine people just the governments incompetence

As much chance of the government being free from corruption

  22. Wow, I would love that.

But they're not shown in the Potential Bids...

But hopefully, by 2024, Philippines will get back on its feet (expression!).

They'll need millions or billions to get the Olympics there.

  23. Sorry to say, Manila is not ready to host an Olympic now and even by 2024. Without having any intention to insulf the country or anyone, here are the reasons :

    (a) Financially , Philippines can't afford it. Hosting an Olympic is not just about building new stadiums or sports complexes but also be able to provide efficient facilities and good infrastructure like a good transportation system, adequate accomodations, good roads and good control of traffics an environment. At present Philippines is lacking in all these aspects and to upgrade them would cost Philippine a huge huge sum of money. Any money should be used to upgrade the living standard of the general Filipinos not on these buildings / stadiums ( note : many stadiums in previous host country have become "white elephant" after being left Philippines are far much greater and moreover China has enough resources to overcome the threats.

    (c) Though not a mandatory requirement but to be able to compete competitively in and Olympic is expected from a host nation. Philippine returned from Beijing empty handed and even in past Olympics only won a few medals. It wouldn't be nice for a host nation to win no medals or only a few medals. If Philippines is not able to excel in sports at Olympic levels, most probably many competition venues will be half empty. I am sure this is the last thing a host nation expects from an Olympic.

At the meantime, i think Philppines  do not even need to waste spending money ( not a small sum ) to bid for the 2024 games. Of the cities you mentioned above, Lima and Beirut are definintely out. Paris will be the city to beat if they had not won the 2020 bid.

  24. Let's be realistic... my answer is nil too.  Let's face it, we don't have the budget to host the Olympics.  We have to train first our athletes to become world class rather than hosting a world class event...hello we have to get a Gold Medal first in Olympics.

Philippines does not have a say even in Asian countries. For now, our priority is how to solve POVERTY in the Philippines. Why will we join the race in Olympic Bid when we could not even sustain our basic needs?

By the way, Mexico is far different from the Philippines.  Their tourism destinations are more popular in the world than in the Philippines.  We have to accept this sad fact.

  25. I would be deeply afraid in behalf of the Phils if Manila would be granted to be the host. Why? Imagine the unimaginable corruption! I can already see the contracts going up to trillions even if the actual budget would only be billions. Get my point? Manila may or may not have the capacity to host the Olympics but dear Lord! Corruption would be at its highest when this happens!

  26. to tell you frankly, manila do not have a chance competting with great cities like paris and toronto, cuz financially do  not have the capability.

the first thing that philippine government (in general to help the candidate city) must do is support first the athletes, cuz i think there are filipino athletes who have talents and skill which is necessary to be develop much better.

    VAMOS MADRID 2016..

  27. Without being facetious, although it sounds like that, Manila has the same odds of winning the bid as a street child selling sampaguitas in the street has of escaping a future free from victimization, neglect, abject destitution, poor health and utter tragedy.
