What are the chances of a cat having two litters of kittens days apart?

I adopted a homeless cat that was really skinny, before I could take and have her fixed I noticed she was pregnant. She just had her kittens 3 days ago and she only had 3 but she is still fat. Is there a chance she can have more? I have been feeding her really good since I got her, both dry and canned food so I'm hoping she is "just fat".

  1. it is possible your cat could have some kittens inside her still and might not have gotten all of them out that could be caught and the back of the cat..

but there is also the fact that you cat is just fat from the first littler.

you should just feed her normally and take her to the vet to make she she does not has a problem or something

but i would just suggest don't feed her to much.

To be on the safe side, you could always have her checked out by a vet

  2. It is possible.  It is possible for any mammal to have part of its litter, stop the birthing process if it feels unsafe, and then return to the birthing process when is feels safe again.  Even humans sometimes stop the birthing process when they feel stressed and resume the process later.

I haven't heard of it taking three days to re-start the process, but I'd say it is in the realm of possibility.  (Animals will never cease to surprise me!)

Odds are, however, that her teats are full and she is just fat and happy.

To be on the safe side, you could always have her checked out by a vet.

  3. not unless some of the kittens miscarried and are still inside her which would need removed by the vet and if your taking her to get her fixed they can remove them then, but it may just be baby fat like people get and there skin also stretches so there bellies are fat for awhile after they give birth i wouldn't worry about it just have the vet check her out when they fix her, good luck

  4. It's not possible.  I'm sure she's fine and she's just a bit tubby!  Don't worry.  And watch her weight once she's done nursing and spayed especially once she's spayed because she'll be much more prone to being obese!  3-4 kittens is a normal size litter.
