  1. Well- I doubt you'll conceive (that's usually a woman's job)  ;-) but as for being fertile: I had an inguinal hernia in my young teens and we had our first baby a few months ago.  I think there's a very slim chance of becoming infertile, but it's unusual.  Your doctor should be able to explain the statistics to you (in fact, I think he/she, by law, has to explain the risks before you agree to the surgery).  The other thing to note (for what it's worth): Inguinal Hernias are extremely common among males.

    I've already received a thumbs down and I suspect it might be from T S (but if not, sorry T S).  My brother *also* had a hernia for years before he told anyone because he was too embarrased.  His intestine grew all around his testicals (and vice-versa).  I specifically remember there being some (extremely small) chance that he could lose both of his testicals and also his fertility.
