  1. because of the magnetosphere around the earth, direction of asteroids coming towards earth is deflected and they just go around it, as the big asteroids create magnetic fields. and the smaller ones just burn in the atmosphere, in the way coming to earth, due to friction, with earth's particles.

since the formation of the earth's atmosphere and magnetosphere there haven't been any such collisions so i would say it is very unlikely.

  2. Depends what size of asteroid! Small objects are hitting the Earth almost constantly, but only a very small fraction of them are large enough to get through the atmosphere and impact the ground. Objects large enough to threaten an area the size of a city usually don't hit more often than once every few hundred years or so (the Tunguska event was one example just over a hundred years ago), and the vast majority of them would hit more or less uninhabited territory and not kill more than a handful of people at most. Objects large enough to threaten our entire civilization have millions of years between strikes, and it is very unlikely that one will collide with the Earth in the near future.

  3. if you look at the moon it is full of craters.

Some scientist say those are from volcanic actions.

However some scientist conclude that there are too many craters to be a volcanic action. Rather they have concluded that moon was hit by a hundreds of asteroids and that made the crater. So this a good chance that earth will get hit.

  4. With an open time frame, I say the chances are close to 100%.
