  1. Hehe, doesn't matter since the world as we know it is going to end in 2012.

  2. I hope so! It would be pretty exciting, and it would bring in a lot of money, work and jobs to people that need them here.

  3. chances are:

                    1

    ______________________

(# of cities to choose from

  4. Not sure what NBC your watching, but actually its going to be in London in 2012 not 2016

  5. I thought they wre planning on London? I doubt Chicago I think they will be in London... I heard it while watching the olympics

  6. I think they're pretty good.

  7. I hope NONE. the city can't handle it's own traffic NOW.

  8. VERY GOOD. If Mexico hosted the olympics in the past, why not Chicago? The only thing I see as a challenge is the urban train system (or better know as "The L") would need to be replaced, is mediocre, ugly and noisy. By the way, perhaps the Mexico City metro system is better!!!   LOL

  9. About the same chance as it being hosted in ankerage alaska...

  10. I think their chances are good since America has a lot of money to get behind Chicago to influence votes.  However I think they may go for Rio since an olympics has never been held in South America.

  11. Against is the poor condition of 96 Paralympic village.

I have read many bad reports

  12. Slim to none.

  13. Hopefully zip. It's so boring if the Olympics are hosted in America. We already know Chicago. It's be cool if it was hosted somewhere foreign and unique like Brazil or Japan!

  14. hopefully none

  15. to be honest, none. too much other stuff to deal with in chicago. i dunno y IOC are considering them. maybe another time, tho.

  16. 1 in 4, 25%

it's either Chicago, Rio De Jeniro, Mardird, or Tokyo.

  17. Dout it. So many other places too

  18. its very good chance but so do the other 3 bids also have the same opportunity.

Chicago- It will be 20 years after Atlanta 1996 and the U.S. will have a good chance but as far as what i have heard there is a 50/50 split between  yes and no for residents. But it would be 6 years after the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver which may hinder preconceived notions.  Also many country's and the IOC are very against the bush administrations policy's (although he will be out of office at the time.)  also the USOC has some yet to pay payments to the IOC. Although Chicago will have a very good chance. Although if the IOC has preconceived notions about what happened in Atlanta in 1996 then they maywant to post pone or do away with that idea due to like in Atlanta The Olympic stadium will be only temporary and some venues obsolete after the Olympics.

Rio- Rio has the strongest chance if you're not counting stadiums and support. It will be the 2nd time that the Olympics will be held in the southern atmosphere and 1st time in S.A. also people in the city are more concerned with infrastructure in the long run then in the short term for random sporting events such as the Olympics or Pan American games. Although these games would do the same for china it would open up the country and tap into international possibilities.

Madrid- Has the least chance but has the most money to spend and the most support which the IOC likes to see. Although London will be 4 years before and less than 3 hours away Madrid will have a good opportunity because this has happened in the past with London in 1948 and Helsinki in 1952 which there were in the same continent. Although the IOC will have the incentive that the public will be supportive of the games and since Madrid has been bidding for these games since 2004 the IOC may give in. But since the London games will be less than 4 years earlier there may be the "been there done that" mentality.

Tokyo- With the most confusing and most up in the air bid Tokyo has the best record and best opportunity to host. With the most support behind the bid. Many venues are already in place from when Tokyo hosted the games in 1968 (Which would provide for most of the venues and keep down costs.). But Tokyo will have strong opposition just like Madrid because it would be the last time Asia hosted the summer games was in 2008  but will be even more intense because the 2014 Winter games will be taking place in Asia in Sochi which will be back to back games in Asia if Tokyo hosts. But the IOC may give Tokyo the Sympathy bid due to Jaca in South Korea has bid and tried to win the Winter Olympics since 2002. which basically means that the IOC will give them there sympathy. Japan will also have a good chance since it will be 18 years after the Nagano Olympics which have been the biggest winter Olympic success story.

In my opinion i believe that it will be Tokyo against Rio. But Madrid and Chicago having a better chance in 2020 to bid.

But don't give up hope because you never know what the IOC will stay.

  19. On technical levels, Chicago is the favourite. However by past experiences, that is not enough to win. I would think Rio (and I hope not) or Madrid will win. Tokyo is the dark horse.

  20. It has an OK chance.

Of the 4 options, I think Rio has a good chance because the Olympics have not yet been in South America, and the suggestion of security concerns is pretty poor, because the 2014 world cup is going to be in Brazil. I'm sure if its good enough for FIFA, it's good enough for the IOC. Tokyo is pretty close to Beijing so that could be a prohibiting thing, but Madrid is pretty close to Athens so you never know. The US only hosted the Olympics 12 years ago, although by 2016 it'll be 20 years, which I still think is a bit too soon. The USA has hosted many summer Olympics, with LA twice, Atlanta as well as St Louis way back in 1904.

  21. idk but i think it'll probably be in chicago

  22. Maybe in 3016.

  23. USA seems to get 1 every decade so odds are good

  24. Unless chicago suddenly becomes a city that accually matters and has an olympic stadium, no

  25. Hopefully the chances are slim, no offence intended. I think it's time a south american country got the Olympics, as they have never hosted it before.

So my vote goes to Rio.

  26. sames as any other country applying for the 2016 olympics.

  27. 0% Sorry. The 2016 olympics is being held in London, England.

  28. Yeah, so do I. It's currently ranking at the top of the 3 choices. Chicago just needs to be able to prove that they have enough hotels willing to cooperate to reserve 85% of their rooms for everyone involved. Some feel its a lot to deal with.

  29. I'm thinking it doesn't have that much of a shot, since the US has hosted four Olympics (winter and summer: Lake Placid '80, Los Angeles '84, Atlanta '96, and Salt Lake City '02) in less than 30 years.

It's probably going to be in Rio, since South America hasn't hosted an Olympics yet.

  30. your the first time i got a wind of that one,,

    but hey anything could happen

    i hope they are

  31. About 70% ... the competition has worse facilities than Chicago does except for maybe Tokyo (it has better public transportation but it's overpopulated with no room for facilities).  Rio de janero is a security concern.  All things into account I think Chicago has a good chance.
