What are the chances of getting caught downloading torrent files without sharing them?

I don't know how to even share files or barely download..... I am just watching out for my friend. He only has about 200 songs and I know the chances of getting caught are extremely low. (Like 100,000 to 1).

Look..... this shouldn't be a deleted question cus I'm just lookin out for my friend! Please answer!

downloading torrents IS sharing files... so I don't understand how he could download torrents without technically sharing them. The chances of getting caught are low, but possible... there have been a few cases of people getting "caught" and charged for illegal file sharing. I would reccomend your friend uses a program like PeerGuardian while downloading torrents, as it will block government ip addresses and therefore lower the chances a lot of him getting caught.... just another way to stay safe and private on the internet

Tell your "friend" the chances of getting caught are EXTREMELY low, and even if you, I mean he, did manage to get caught, it's pretty easy to get out with a very low fine.
