  1. If the reason that your mom had twins is because of a genetic predisposition to release more than one egg at ovulation, you may have inherited that tendency as well. Fraternal twins as you know, come from 2 eggs. It's not always genetic, but sometimes it is. I'm pregnant with fraternal twins and there's nobody in my family for generations that have twins. So for me, it's not genetic. You may be more likely because you are a twin, but there's no way to give you odds. It's also a myth that it skips a generation, I just had a conversation with a genetic counselor about this. Other factors that cause women to release more than one egg at once include (but are not limited to) age, fertility drugs, PCOS and good old fashioned luck.

  2. This may help.

My mother was not a twin.

    She had twins.

Her non twin daughter had twins.

Her non twin daughter had twins.

I'm not a twin nor is my partner.

    My daughter had twins.

No rhyme nor reason that I can see.

  3. Twins run in the females side. Has nothing to do with the father.
