my wife is pregnant and she has green eyes, and so do both of her parents. i have brown eyes, and so do both of my parents, but my grandma has green eyes, and my grandpa had brown eyes.

just wondering, what are the chances of my baby having green eyes?

  1. the colour brown is dominant over green..

    if one of your PARENTS had green eyes.. then your child could have had green, but since they both have brown, your child would most likely have brown

    but your child's children could have green, as the colour green is recessive, meaning it skips a generation

    Your parent (child of grandparents listed) would have the dominant gene for brown eyes and the recessive gene for green eyes. That would mean that you have a 50/50 chance of having the recessive gene for green eyes. Given that you do have the gene, your child would have a 50/50 chance of getting that gene. So, using basic statistics, there would be a 25 percent chance of your child having blue or green eyes. That is, of course, with all other things being equal and not taking into consideration a number of other factors.
