...it was 1cm away at 32 weeks.

This is my first baby and I really would like a natural birth.

Has anyone else experienced a low POSTERIOR placenta that moved up with the uterus enough by the 36th week?

I will find out my fate next Thurs but I am aware as its towards the back it is less likely to move much. If it hasnt do you think they would let me trial labour anyway?

  1. I had a Low Lying Placenta. My baby is engaged so her head made it below the placenta so I will be able to have her v-birth... They scanned me at 30 weeks then again at 35 weeks.

  2. Hi, At my 20 week scan they told me that my placenta was totally covering the cervix, i was very worried for 16 weeks until my 36 week scan 2 weeks ago, and it has moved completely out of the way and is mid post now,

    try not to worry

  3. I haven't had a LLP, but this is a good statistic: -

82% of low lying placentas will move up by 36wks, even if they are posterior.

A good indicator would be how your baby is positioned, as most low lying placentas will make a longitudinal lie impossible. Therefore with a LLP your baby probably won't be positioned North-South - he/she may be breech, have a transverse lie (diagonally across you) or even be obtuse (East-West across you).

I expect that if the placenta isn't covering the cervix, and provided that you don't have any bleeding - they will be happy to help you give birth normally.

    Hope this helps,

Good luck with your scan - fingers crossed!
