What are the chances of seeing some large freight trains at Exeter St Davids?

I need some shots of large cargo trains at rest during the night time for a portfolio I have been commissioned to build up; is Exeter St Davids a likely station for this sort of nocturnal activity?

Thanks!

  1. Thank the lord i don't know the answer to this!!

  2. There is a huge quarry at Meldon which trains goto, but that is near okehampton. I know the line from Okehampton leads to Exeter but have no idea when they run.

The main freight companies are EWS, GB Freight and Freightliner, perhaps they have a website or a phone number so you can find out depot locations....

    Anyway good luck

  3. Go to the train Station and ask if there are any trains that go through the station.

  4. Unfortunately you don't get that much freight through St Davids Station.   freight in Devon (like the rest of the country is sparse)    Certainly no freight stops over night,   Go on Yahoo Groups and search for a railway group in the Devon area.   Join that group and ask your question.

  5. If you have transport Meldon would be a good choice especially as you want to photograph stationary trains. Better shots of trains moving on the sea wall at Dawlish but very little freight left in the west country.
