  1. Could still be alive.  Once the bad weather and coldness comes, they are goners.

  2. When I lived in California I used to see domestic birds roosting in the orchard.  Even in winter when it got down to 45 degrees I'd see parakeets and Indian Ringnecks occaisionally.  If it doesn't get much colder than that I think the biggest fear is predators.

  3. The rain isnt a problem.. its the food. Birds that fly away dont usually know what is food and what isnt food because they arent used to being outdoors. If the wings are clipped they could definately be eaten. To get the bird back you could buy a tape that has parakeet calls on it and play it for a whole day , loud , outside. Leave some of its food (enough to be visible from afar) out on a tray too. Put an thing in the paper about it.

  4. Parakeets are very tough little birds and can survive very nicely..Ive seen flocks of them in Calif..They eat fruit from trees and find different kinds of seeds..Water isnt a problem because they can find it anywhere..A puddle, a pool, someones birdbath, etc...They probably due better out in the wild...When they get loose, which alot of domestic birds do, they join up with other lost ones...Dont worry..it will be fine.

  5. It is difficult to answer that, some people get lucky and they are found. I often see Parakeets found in the Lost and Found.  If the weather is good,  keep walking around where you live calling him. Maybe he did not go to far.  Just keep your fingers crossed.

  6. Post some flyers in your neighborhood and ask people to keep an eye on their bird feeders.  If he was hand tame he may fly down and land on someone.  Contact local vets and petstores and the SPCA.  Also make sure to report it to  www.911parrotalert.com which is a database of missing, lost and found birds.

As long as it is warm out and he can find food his chances are good.
