I think they have a very good chance. They have players who can be explosive at bat like Reyes, Wright, Beltran, and Delgado. Their pitching is beyond decent if all the pitchers are 100% healthy.

The following NL teams will make it to the playoffs (predictions): Mets of course (NL East champs), Cubs (NL Central champs), Dodgers (NL West champs, and Phillies (Wild Card) .... Mets will come out on top! Go Mets.

  1. not that big of a chance...

    the mets are too streaky..

they win 6 in a row then lose 6 in a row....

the phillies and the nats are right behid them, so a 6 game losin streak could easliy put them in 3rd place.

  2. I agree they have a very good chance if they can get Santana going like his start Sunday then the Mets have a very good chance to win the division and get deep into the post season and Carlos Beltran,Delgado and David Wright wll have to continue to put runs on board

  3. As a Phillies fan, I have to say that I am concerned that it very well could happen, they are playing great ball as of late and seem to be getting contributions from people that are not expected which is what you need, Delgado has come on at that is what they really needed.

  4. To my dismay I think it's quite possible. Even as a Phillies fan I think the mets may end up takinging it. I have to stand behind my team, so I really really hope the Phillies make it, but I know it's gonna be a close one.

  5. As much as I would like to see them do it, and make up for last seasons disastrous finish, I put their chances at about 60-40. The series starting tonight against The Marlins, will say much, and even gain ground on Florida. However, it will be their SP that determines their outcome, for most part. Santana, we know can give them good innings, and despite his lack of winning games ( not his fault), his ERA is quite respectable. It will be Pelfrey, Maine, even Perez, who will have to be consistent enough and give them a decent amount of quality innings, as well as Wagner closing "safely".  IN August they have 16 games against struggling teams as with Houston, San Diego, Washington, and another series against Phillies and Marlins, so a very important stretch coming up. If they could silence Astros offense, and put up some numbers against SD & Washington, as well as good solid games all the way around against Braves( who just put Chipper and Hudson on DL), this is when they can make a serious charge and gain ground on Marlins and Phillies.

  6. wel, the mets and cubs/brewers wll have to verse each other in the nlDS assuming the wild card comes out of the central, which i think it will. if theywin a cubs or brewer series in 5, they will steamroll to the world series (well steamroll is probly in exageration

edit: lol, i guess this matt guy hasnt known what the mets been doing the past month

  7. the Mets will win the NL East. They are playing extremely well. With Delgado and Beltran getting hot, and Santana pitching the way he's pitching, the Mets will the division. But, I don't think the Mets will be NL champs. The Cubs will beat the Mets in the NLCS.

  8. If they stay healthy and stop reading the Daily News or any other paper in NYC about them this will help. 59 games to go they probly need to win 49. I can't wait to see the new Park too!

  9. I like their chances, the Mets are prolly the hottest team in the NL right now. Delgado is hitting the c**p out of the ball as of late, and Santana had a very good start. The only concern I have for the Mets is that they need to add a Second Ace to their rotation next to Johan. Oliver Perez is inconsistent, and the rest of the guys are mediocre. If Pedro can come back and look like the Pedro of 2 years ago, I think the Mets will win the NL East Easily let alone win the NL Pennant.

  10. First off the wildcard winner will come from the nl central. With that being said my money is on the cubs. The pitching is super deep and even though the hitting has fell off a bit but we still lead the nl in runs!

  11. i think the chances are pretty good considering they have enormous talent on the team. I bet that they win the world series.

    GO METS!!
