What are the chances of the baby having blue, green or brown eyes.

And could I have still inherited the green eyed gene even though me eyes are brown?

  1. A brown eyed parent and a green eyed parent can have children with green, hazel, light brown, or brown eyes.

So chances of blue are minimal (sometimes hazel and green look blue green),  chances of green are good, chances of brown are best.

  2. that can  only be answered once your children are born.. my mother has blue eyes and my dad had hazel eyes.  We all have our mother's colored eyes.. except for the oldest has hazel eyes.

Mom blue.. grandma blue... grandpa brown

dad hazel.. grandpa was haze.  I really don't know my grandmother she died the year i was born.

I think a healthy baby is more important then eye color..

  3. i just learned this in bio!!! you probably have the green eye gene as a recessive trait, and your husband has green eyes as a dominant trait. to figure this out you use a punnet square...

Bb--> you are Bb... the uppercase B is brown eyes, the lowercase is your recessive green eyes trait

bb--> your husband, he has dominant green eyes

                              B       b

                        b   Bb     bb

                        b   Bb     bb

therefore, given the information, there is a 50% chance for green eyes and 50% for brown... good luck with the baby and congratulations!!!!

  4. ok. so, i learned how to figure this out using a punnett square in biology!

if you and your husband have a child, its:

0% that your baby will have blue eyes, considering no one else that you've mentioned has blue eyes, plus, its a recessive gene.

and a 50/50 chance the baby will have green or brown eyes (brown being the dominant gene).

and yes, you are definatly carrying the green eyed gene. i know this because your father is green eyed which is homozygous recessive. he is carrying 2 recessive genes, and needs to pass one to you, and your mother passes one to you. therefore you got the recessive gene from your father (that he needed to pass), and the dominant brown eyed trait from your mother.

    hope i've helped.
