  1. The Devils just ride Brodeur as much as they possibly can.  They strip every talented player from him until there's no one left, and then bash him when he's tired come playoff time.

  2. The Devils are too weak to go out and spend there money on a superstar.

Like the other guy said, slim to none.

  3. There is a pretty weak free agent pool this year, compared to other years.  Hossa, Campbell, possibly Jagr... we don't know who's going to be signed by July 1st, though.

Plus, Lou doesn't like spending lots of money and overpaying for players... and since there will only be a few top-caliber players, they will fetch top dollar.

In addition, NJ doesn't really have the drawing power of other teams or cities.  It's just not popular to want to play in an empty building in Newark.

They will get a few mid-level players, but I don't think they will get a superstar.  A "pretty good" player is definitely possible though.

EDIT:  J.O., I wasn't trying to insult the devils!  I was actually impressed how long they stuck around and how well they did with what little they had last year.  They didn't really have much talent but they tried hard.  It is very possible that they can do that again next year, with some new "pretty good" players.

But, Lou always tries to spend wisely (and that may not be possible when 30 teams are trying to get the same player as him), and it IS harder to attract players to a team like NJ, NYI, or FLA than it is to attract players to a team like MON, TOR, DET, or NYR.

  4. zero to none

    haha devils suck

  5. slim to no chance

  6. Lou Lamorella already said he knows they need to.....so it is coming no doubt,. They picked up a great young defensman from the World games. and the team knows they need to give the best goalie in the league some offense so they stop losing one goal games.

I was really hoping to see Hossa, Sundin, or Richardson in Nj, but apparently the timing or some c**p wasn't right.. Hopefully this year. I could see someone the Penns choose not to pay end up there.

As for what "Gregg Says" we could use a few ok or better then average players...that is our style..we had a mediocre team this year and almost took the conference till the last week. It's hard to win with 5 20goal scorers. but if we add a 40 goal scorer or two in the mix we could be unstoppable with our tight defensive style.Plus for some reason superstar fowards don't survive here>

There is $$$ in Jersey to spend we just have to spend some...You gotta spend money to make money.
