  1. VERY UNLIKELY. The military is generally meeting or exceeding its recruiting goals, and there doesn't appear to be any world events on the horizon that the current military strength levels cannot support - ironically Iraq appears to be cooling off.

Should the US enter a large scale conflict that requres more manpower than is currently serving, then the draft (conscription) might be initiated. In my estimation this is very unlikely, and you can rest assured that every other option will be exercised first - think about the negative implications of the draft during Vietnam (no one wants to relive this).

  2. That's ridiculous! Democrats have always opposed the concept of a draft and always will. I sense that a Republican posted that message.

In answer to the original question, there's very little chance of a draft being reinstated. The country would in an uproar, citizens would call for their local heads of state to resign...it would be chaos.

The only way a draft would ensure would be if, God forbid, another world war broke out.

  3. Little to none, although it would do every 18 year old that is qualified much good to serve two years in the military.

  4. Honestly... if a Democrat is elected, there is a greater chance. WHY ? Because it would be the PERFECT make-work, Welfare program !!

DO remember that the ONLY persons in Congress to push for reinstating the draft have been Democrats: Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is the spear-carrier for that move.

  5. If McCain is elected, very good.

  6. i wouldnt say the army is meeting their goals but the truth is there will not be another draft.  the army has said it learned its lessons from the past, and forcing soldiers to serve is not the way to go.  SGM of the Army said only 30 percent of American men 17-25 are good enough to meet Army standards in a few ways whether it be schooling, physical, or arrest records, so dont expect a draft anytime soon.

  7. Zero.

We get a better motivated force being all-volunteer.

Besides, only Democrats have raised the "Draft Bill" in Congress in the last decade.

Either which way the chance is Zero to maybe .001 percent.

    Hope this helps!

  8. dpends

Dems are the ones calling for its reinstatement

Don't want a draft?  Vote dems out of office in congress and the senate

  9. You have a better chance of seeing God at dinner on Saturday..........

  10. Slim to None.

  11. In my opinion, it would be better to reinstate the draft, and bring home the National Guard troops presently deployed overseas.

The purpose of the National Guard was/is to safeguard our country, and to respond in case of natural emergency.

I have 2 brothers-in-law in the NG that have each been to Iraq twice.

I have friends in New Orleans that are in the NG, and were in Iraq when Hurricane Katrina hit.

Also, I think it would do a lot of good for those 18 y/o "know-it-alls" to have to serve a few years in the military. It might teach them some discipline and respect.
