I'm just curious... what are the odds of getting HIV if a condom was used? Have there been cases of people getting it while using protection? I know herpes can be spread this way, so can HIV? Thanks.

  1. If you used it properly and it din't break you wont get HIV.

  2. I THINK I HEAD THAT A CONDOM IS 99.9 AFFECTIVE IDK IM DUMB BUT YAHOO HAS SOME GOOD ANSWERS

  3. Condoms are not 100% effective, they can break, but the odds of becoming infected are MUCH lower that if no condom was used. So I would strongly use the condoms on a regular basis.

  4. It is simple. If it is used properly and does not break, then you are protected against HIV. Condoms are very effective in HIV prevention.

HIV is not a game of chances and statistics. You are either protected or you are not. If you are not, you have a chance of contracting HIV. Vaginal s*x carries a risk of  1 to 1000 per exposure. The risk is low. But it is possible that you get it the first time you have unprotected s*x OR it is possible that you have 1000 intercourse and still do not get it. It is just a number. You hvae to protect yourself and do not rely on chances/statistics.

Keep up the good work of using condoms when you do not know the status of your partner.
