When they interrupted programming, I got a flashback feeling of being in the 80s or 90s , with Tom's voice coming across the wires.

He's stepped down from NBC nightly news, gave the throne to Brian Williams. What are the chances that he is in the NBC studios to make this announcement... Anyone else find this odd?

  1. Tom Brokaw did not murder Tim Russert. Walking away from a career that was exciting and as financially rewarding as Brokaw's would be difficult, but the doctors say that Russert suffered from an enlarged heart and he had a heart attack and he died. No government cover-up; the liberals are not at fault, and George W. had nothing to do with it.

  2. No it's not odd.

I feel it was appropriate to have Tom Brokaw . I'm sure they called him in to announce it.  Brian Williams is awesome but Tom probably worked with Tim longer then Brian. Guess it doesn't matter, it's a great loss!!

  3. Brokaw can't walk away.. he loves the sound of his voice, does a TON of TV and appearances, and was on TV all weekend for hours on end, with Russert's passing without offering much.  His story about his asking Russert to "lose 15 pounds" was not only inappropriate but sounded too much, like an I TOLD YOU SO... and I would have been shocked, did I not already realize that these guys are NOT geniuses, until someone WRITES something in the teleprompter for then to say/sound the part.

PS -- Russert was FAR MORE than Brokaw, who was just an "anchorman" -- a reader and face-person. Russert did his homework, most anchor show up and read that homework out loud, and emote with their distinctinve "delivery".

  4. ZERO.

First of all, Tom Brokaw and Tim Russert were the BEST OF FRIENDS. I know this, because I worked at NBC News for several years and everyone there knows how close certain people are.

Secondly, Tom Brokaw stepped down as anchor of Nightly News, but he is still VERY involved with everything that happens at NBC News and is practically always at NBC Studios - in NEW YORK CITY.

Tim Russert died at NBC Studios - in WASHINGTON DC.

Believe it or not, there are a whole bunch of cities that have places called "NBC Studios".

So I'm not sure exactly what you're insinuating, but it doesn't appear to be making much sense. They weren't in the same building. Tom Brokaw was in 30 Rockefeller. Russert was in DC.
