  1. slim i doubt they would even get it

  2. OK, a lot depends on what beach and how the currents are flowing. Your best chance to conduct this experiment would be on a out going tide. With the winds blowing out to sea.

If your serious about this you may want to go to a local Marine store near the beach and ask them if they have any "current" charts. You can then choose the best spot that would carry your message in a bottle away from the beach instead of it landing back on the beach. Or better yet if you can get out on a boat go out as far as you can and then toss the bottle over. A glass bottle would be better then a plastic as the plastic bottle will eventually breakdown by the ultra vilot rays from the sun. If you do go out on a boat it will still be best to know the currents. I think if you put a special message in the bottle, I don't think anyone will consider it pollution. I would use something about the size of a wine bottle.

OK the down side of using a glass bottle is if it ends up on a rocky shore line it will break, but in reality eventually so would a plastic bottle. Keep in mind that it could be as long as 50 years before someone might find it. Also keep in mind the chances are still slim that someone would fine it as there are more desolate beaches then ones that are populated.

    Good luck to you.

  3. To be honest the chances are very little.

May someone will get it or it will break.

But i can advice you to do it.

    Try why not.!!

  4. Hey,

If you drop anything in the Gulf of Mexico, it will eventually end up around Padre Island or South Padre Island if you get it out passed the onshore current.  Offshore currents take everything there.  The likelihood of it being picked up are pretty good I would think.

  5. avoid a glass bottle it could get broken on rocks or something else (and broken glass pollutes and is dangerous)try a plastic bottle add a little weight to it so it will float, put a little silicone around the cap to water seal it and send it off you never know.Check out a great story called "Paddle to the Sea"

  6. depends were you put it. if u put it in california, i would say 1/1,000,000 because the ocean is getting larger every day.

  7. Im not sure just putting it in at a beach would work but if you got a good out going tide that would help. make sure its water tight. I know it works because i found one a couple years ago when i was fishing off a beach. It had a letter in it from a young kid who lived about 20 miles away.

one thing for sure you have no chance if you dont try it. so' go for it:""

  8. do not do it first of all no one will get it OK bye
