Question:

What are the chances that someone will ask me to be a TV star?

Hi! I know this sounds totally stupid. But I've heard a lot of artists/actors that tell stories about being discovered by someone else and actually asked to be part of TV, music, modeling, whatever.

I don't want to sound arrogant. But I think my looks are pretty distinguishable, people seem to like me, even strangers, so it has gotten into my head that maybe someone could aske to be part of Disney Channel or something.

I'm really not pursuing it, but if that's what I was meant to be, I'm open to it. I started thinking it because everywhere I go it seems that people like looking at me and smiling, etc.

So, what are the possibities of someone actually asking me to become part of some TV series, movie, modeling, etc?

or is that just lies that celebrities make up?

thanks!

  1. Well, if you start pursuing it, your chances might be a lot better.  Go to interviews & tryouts for modeling, and acting.  Take some acting lessons.  Get your *** out there.  The odd of someone finding you these days is slim to none, and really NONE if they don't know you exist.

An example of what you're talking about happened to a dear friend, but he put himself out there.  Doing magic in the streets of  New Orleans.  He was discovered by Johnny Carson's producers and went on to have his own NBC hit series for almost 10 years.  This is not your every day scenario.  He's a great entertainer, he got lucky and knows it.  You have to be in the public eye to gain more attention to begin with.  Even for the very best of 'em.  If you really want to be discovered, put some energy into it.  Unfortunately no one is going to hand you a contract because you're good looking and talented, especially if they never see you.

  2. i live in LA. you have no chance, sorry.

looks and "talent" have much less to do with who makes it than does CONNECTIONS, who your family is, etc. think about it, you see so many people on TV and in the Movies who absolutely suck right? well how do you think they got what they got? the answer is not looks (beauty is common, ESPECIALLY out here in LA .. hot people are everywhere being good looking is no advantage here) ... the answer is not "talent" .. most actors can barely talk without someone telling them what to say  and are essentially functionally illiterate  ... and "talent" when it is there is highly subjective anyway.

if you want to be in the industry, go to college in LA (USC or UCLA preferably) and from there you will be able to get jobs at the studios and you could parlay that into producing one day if you work hard and are good at networking. focus on the producer (behind the camera) side, that is where the power is and where the real money is too.

the actors are just props that do what they are told. be the one telling them what to do!

  3. come to me, my star, I will throw you up into the night sky.

  4. 0 to 0 chance

  5. Next to nil.  I suggest pursuing it if that is what you're interested in.

  6. Unless you live somewhere around Hollywood/LA area you have a slim to none chance of being discovered.

  7. You mean someone just walking up to you on the street and saying"Your beautiful. Let me put you on TV"? Slim to none.

  8. umm. sorry to burst your bubble but you have no chance.

    goodbye.

  9. YOu could have a good chance you might not be like a huge tv star but u would start somewhere small when you go out if u have a good apperance and a great personallity you would deff be noticed like my friend does voice of overs and her sis was in blues clues for the mail time and like they are in commercials and they got discovered at a nail salon because they were just so happy and had a great personallity so a lady went up to them and offerd the job

  10. Not sure really!

But I would try http://www.WatchGigs.com for anything music related.

    It's usually all on there!

Otherwise you could try YouTube.com or maybe Veoh.com

  11. احب السياحه والتعارف مطلق

  12. They're not going to admit that they were the part time puke-mopper-upper at the local Denny's, now are they?  Or that they waited on tables for 12 years before they got their big break....which was a tampon commercial?

If people are smiling at you, that's nice, but it doesn't mean you have the talent (singing, acting, dancing, or all three) to be "A Star".

Some  just smile because they can.  Don't read anything into it.

  13. unless you plan to hump your way to the top, sorry.

  14. When they have auditions, go for them! You might be the next Miley Cyrus for all you know! But then again, who would ever want to be the next Miley Cyrus... *coughcough*

  15. If you're not pursuing it, and don't live in a large area like New York City or Los Angeles/Hollywood, your chances are little to none.

  16. if you get an agent and start performing then maybe you'll get 'discovered'

but you're not gonna be walking around in the mall and have some guy come up to you saying 'hey i'm so-and-so from disney channel productions and we would like you to be on hannah montana next season!'

    no. just no.

you need an agent, to begin...then you have to AUDITION for roles. unless you're a multimillionaire-actor-for-20-years nobody will ask you to be in a show/movie. once you have an audition, you get a callback. if you don't get a callback, the chance is over.

i'm sure people are looking at you smiling because they are nice people and you are a nice person.

just because you go to safeway and the deli-counter lady smiles at you as she passes by does not mean that she acutally has a double life in which she casts roles for tv shows and she wants you on it.

you have to work from the bottom up.

start in community theatre, get an agent if things are good with your acting, and that's how you will get auditions --> callbacks ---> opportunity ---> ultimately, discovery.

    you'll also need acting lessons.

i don't care if you think you're the best actor in the world, all actors have to take lessons to perfect themselves.

also, not many tv stars started off on tv, like right off the bat. they had to work for it by going through greuling years of community theatre and rejections. this excludes miley cyrus because she is kind of a w***e and her father was a one-hit wonder and her family is so rich they can do whatever the h**l they want. whatever.

you get discovered by working for it.

    the end.

    good luck!

  17. It's good that you have this kind of self confidence. It's really healthy and its not something that everyone has. It would be very unlikely that an agent will fall out of the sky and cast you for the disney channel so you should make your own luck. No joke! Get some headshots. Go to auditions and make it happen. Only you can!

  18. Nobody will walk up to you and say "Do you want the lead role on my new TV series?".

If you join a theater, and talent agents come and think you have talent, they may ask you.

If you want to send a resume in for Disney you could try this website

    www.actinginfo.blogspot.com.

Love me when you're famous ;]

  19. haha.

u have NO chance what so ever,

im really sry its good to reach for the stars but seriously..

    good bye.

  20. Your chances are 0.000000001% of someone automatically making you famous. The best thing for you to do is to try out at auditions or Talent Shows.

  21. ummm

    i.. don't... know...?

u say u don't wanna persue it, but u can't expect something like fame to come to you. i mean, it happens, but just because ur likeable doesn't mean an agent will come up to you and say "hey come be on disney channel!" preeetty unlikely... however if u find the agent, they likely hood of it happening has a bigger chance. So i say, if you really want it to happen, you get the ball rolling and see where it goes!

    good luck!

    hope i helped!

  22. Ugh, three guesses why.

  23. YES MOST CELEBRITIES, MODELS, AND KNOW PERSONALITIES ARE DISCOVERED IN MALLS OR OTHER PLACES WITHOUT THEM KNOWING OR REALIZING IT. ANYWAY, IF YOU THINK YOU CAN KEEP PURSUING BEING ONE, IT WOULD BE BETTER TO GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL. TRY GOING TO AUDITIONS. OR ELSE YOU COULD STAY ON THE SAME TRACK, FEELING GOOD WITH PEOPLE NOTICING YOU IN PUBLIC AND JUST GO ON WITH LIFE WITH NO PREDICTIONS. =)

  24. You have a 1/1,000,000 chance but hey you never know nothing is impossible.

But you have a higher chance of winning the jackpot to the lotto than that honestly.

  25. SLIM.

It's not you, just take an acting class for fun and see how you like it.  You'll know if you're any good.  Just because people like you doesn't mean that you will be on t.v.

  26. Your chances are as good as anyone else.  Hang out in visible places.

Wait in line for "extra" roles.

My brother started out this way and ended up getting some small parts on major movies.
