What are the chances that this "father" shot the kid himself and put the blame on the daughter?

The thing is none of us were there so it's all assumptions anyway but what is fact is he shouldn't of had the guns in the house and especially in the garden around the children. He will have to live with this for the rest of his life and that is worse than anything that is been said about him !

the real question should be how the child get hold of a gun, why was it loaded and why was the safety catch not on!

the child is innocent even if they did shoot the baby the parents are to giulty for bringing a gun into the home.

at the end of the day its great to criticize in hind sight, and there are always what ifs, but i just pray to god that baby gets better x x lifes cruel enough as it is, that dad is living with what he has done to his only son all due to a terrible accident,and i am not condoning that he had that gun but, i just hope that that beautiful boy recovers x x

I didnt think much about the possibilities but now u mention it, I think there will be a twist somewhere .

I know hes stupid enough to have a gun around his kids anyway ( or maybe he planned to, if it wasnt an accident) but these guns still have safety!! If he put it down, even if it was for a second he should have put the safety on. Also with a 5 year old taking 1 shot and hitting the boy, would be VERY unlikely, however its still possible.

we shouldnt really judge though without knowing the facts.

I'm sure police will be looking at everything possible that happened.

Its highly probably a child as young as 5 could have shot the baby. Its not at all difficult for children to hold a gun and pull the trigger. We started teaching my children gun safety and shooting when they were around 5.

Highly possible I suppose but like the grandfather said why would you leave a gun lying around in front of kids anyway. Jerk! Perhaps someone should shoot him for being such an idiot!

that everybody going all "oh it's a gun oh noes" it's just an air rifle which are perfectly legal providing they have 12ftlbs of power or less

not only that but what are the chances of it happening within the 5 seconds he said he put it down for an turned his back?! An why would he put it down loaded anyway... does seem all a little too perfectly set up
