  1. It changed Sydney's beauty, depending how you look at it.

It changed Sydney's flow of traffic.

It changed Sydney's skyline (if you look at it from the ground up).

  2. changes the routine

  3. Before the bridge, the people of the north shore travelled to the city by ferry, or by train to Milsons Point then by Ferry. With the bridge there were not only many lanes for road traffic, but twin train tracks and twin tram tracks, giving direct access by train or tram to the city.

The suburbs of the North Shore not surprisingly surged ahead as a result.

At the time it was built, it was by far the highest "building" in the city, and could be seen from a long way off.

Sydney suddenly had a landmark, an engineering feat, that is still widely recognised around the world, making Sydney itself better known, and enhanced it's reputation as a city.

  4. the harbour bridge was an engineering masterpiece and way ahead of its time. it linked the north and south sides of sydney an eliminated the long drive around the harbour or the wait for a car ferry. at the time it didn't make a great impact because there were only 11 cars on the north side of sydney, despite this they built it with 7 lanes for traffic, obviously thinking ahead which is something that most govornments never done. eventually the bridge became over run with traffic and the harbour tunnel was built. although there is always traffic in the city it is better managed than most cities. if your around sydney you should do the bridge climb, its an amazing experience.
