Nothing specially these days. Any body every body with an ability to get good grades and can finish their doctorates can fill in a form as a scientist in some Organization.

Gone are the days of Newton or Einstein or Bohr or Edison, or some such original thinkers.

Of course, these too make some difference.

Scientist is a profession these days. It is no more some thing super human. There are too many R & D labs functioning which call their engineers as scientists.
