Apart from lithium. And no depakote either.

Is there ANYTHING else out there that won't break the bank?

Lamictal is just sooo expensive.

Thanks! I'm desperate...

  1. Beer works ok but my favourite is Lovan (Prozac).

  2. Are you absolutely sure that you really need Meds ? The reason I ask is that after checking out this site, that's totally free, http://www.naturalnews.com and entering Bipolar in the search box at the top of the page, and reading thru all of it, I learned that Meds aren't always the answer. There's a lot of other good info on that page too.And again, best of all, it's totally free.Check it out, and I think you'll have the Answer.Hope this helps !

  3. Off the top of my head I believe gabapentin was pretty cheap.

I really hope this isn't the only site you use when you're looking for reliable med information.

Ask one of the thousands of crazies, including myself, who have been on every med ever created and post at http://www.addforums.com/ everyday.  Go to their bipolar sub-forum.  Maybe this link will work to take you directly there: http://www.addforums.com/forums/forumdis...

I did a search on there for you and it didn't turn up anything even though I'm sure the topic is discussed on there somewhere.  Forum search engines just typically suck though.  Just register and ask your question and you'll have reliable, thorough answers (unlike most you will receive from here on such a niche topic) within a couple of days (probably much less).  There are also government/community services that can get you your meds for seriously reduced costs if not even entirely free (without insurance) that most people don't know about. Stickied forum threads as well as individuals on there can inform you about these if you don't know about them.  Good luck to you.

  4. The medicines you just excluded that is lithium and depakote are not only the cheapest medicines for bipolar, they are also the best medicines for bipolar. So what's wrong with them. Best of luck

  5. My doctor said the generic of Lamictal just came out.  I don't know how much cheaper it is, but it might be worth looking into.  Lithium and Depakote are the most common meds for bipolar, so I wouldn't be so quick to exclude them unless you've tried them and know they don't work for you.

  6. Try canadadrugs.com

If you've got a prescription, it's totally safe and legal.  And a lot cheaper.  I am assuming you do not have insurance.

  7. It's best that you take what your doctor prescribes for you. x

  8. Vodka, Beer, and Pot. But i suggest taking what you are prescribed to take, anything else could worsen your condition.

  9. Anything that has become generic would be cheapest.  I think lithium is one of the cheapest though im assuming you had poor results with it?.  Im not sure what else had gone generic.  If cost is an issue make sure you discuss that with your Dr.  they can look into what could cost you least....possably let you know what companys have programs to give free meds for lower income.....possably have samples they could provide you to help you out.

  10. cheap meds arent good quality buy gd quality ones

  11. You do not want to buy cheap meds. There can be serious side effects form taking them.Besides any kind of medication you decide to take will only hide your illness for a short time and may create an addiction and is very expensive as you know not to mention the harmful side effects.

You should try believing in something other then drugs.Human body is the best healer if you give it what it needs.

I know of a something that will not break your bank, will not create any harmful side effects and will improve your health in ways you cannot imagine.

Start the omega 3 diet.I have researched omega 3 acids for 2 years and performed a very successful experiment on myself and few of my volunteer friends.Few months of the omega 3 diet i cured my stress[and/or depression] problems permanently and significantly raised my intelligence, improved memory, sight, reflexes[and many other known and unknown benefits]and without any drugs or supplements in the form of pills.

Take two table spoons of grinded flaxseed[rich with omega 3 and cheap]a day[with a glass of water] and in a few months you will start to notice significant improvement in your mental health[you will become more psychologically stable, among other things].Use a coffee grinder.Whole seeds cannot be digested by the hydrochloric acid in our stomach only grinded seeds.A fact and not a assumption. You have nothing to loose only gain by it.There are many articles on the internet about the omega 3.2 years ago before i started the diet i did not feel so stable or happy how i feel today.

Flax is the best source of ALA omega 3 fatty acid which our body converts to more important fatty acids called DHA and EPA.For the efficient conversion to take place, foods containing a large amount of the following nutrients must be consumed along with the flaxseed:C,B3,B6 [vitamins],zink and Magnesium [minerals].I recommend 3 table spoons of flax with 100 grams[or more if to your liking] of almonds and/or 250g of green peas,1 kiwi every day.[do not take more then 3 table spoons of flax because large amounts can cause intestinal gases which can cause abdominal pain and/or constipation. If three spoons causes abdominal discomfort lower the dosage to 2 table spoons of grinded flax and elevate it to 3 table spoons after your body adapts to high fiber content].The flaxseed itself is not important. The omega 3 that are inside them are.
