I am turning 14 September 1st, and I am going to be living in London for a year, I want to help out my family with food and rent and such since a pound is twice the amount of a dollar. So, can a fourteen year old girl get a job in london? Are there any exchange programs you can tell me about? London living for a fourteen year old girl from Seattle?

Thanks soo much!

  1. You will have to go to school, which is compulsory to age 16.

Children may work, but must not work between 10pm and 6am. You must not work during school hours, or any hours which interfere with school hours.

Children may not work adult shift patterns, and their hours are limited. Children do not pay tax and are not covered by minimum wage legislation.

The usual work children find are paper rounds, helping in the local shop, on market stalls etc. They are limited to an hour or so early morning or evening, and saturdays and sundays.

  2. Ohh, that so nice of you ;) you are a great daughter!

I don't know about the working-laws but if you can't work then you could walk dogs, like 5 dogs in one time every afternoon and make some good money in the end of the month.
