My bachelors was in a different field, but I want to study clinical psychology to get an MA and eventually phd. What are the requirements I can go to a community college to take and complete please. My community college's website doesn't list it (Los Angeles). Would apply somewhere nearby if that makes any difference. Thanks.

  1. Community college isn't really suitable for this.  You will need to take upper division psych courses not offered there.  I would suggest you find out which specific grad programs you are interested in and finding out what you need.  Taking random classes that don't help you wont do anything other than waste your time and money.

  2. Usually you have to enroll in a pre-master's program and get good grades. The pre-masters will take about one year and involve a bunch of core and advanced undergraduate psychology classes. If you've already minored in psychology or taken a lot of psychology courses, you may not be required to do this. Talk with someone at the school(s) you plan on applying to.

  3. Whats with women and majoring in psychology?  This is seriously a saturated field of study.  Half my friends were psych majors now I go to them when I want a free starbucks or Ikea furniture.  I had to help these Psych PHd's with car problems...lol
