  1. For 2009 the model levels are S, SE, SEL.  In general, more letters = more expensive.

All Jettas for '09 apparently have the same 2.5L 170hp 5cyl engine and the S and SE are available with Manual or Automatic transmissions, where the SEL is only available with an Automatic.  The more letters, the more features available per model.

Apparently VW stopped making the Jetta GLI in 2008 - that car had a 2.0 Turbo 4 with 200hp.  It was like a 4-door sedan version of the GTI and was a more fun alternative to the '09 offerings.  Car magazines loved the Jetta GLI, but it must not have sold very well?

  2. There is only 1 class of the Jetta, and that would be the 1.8T Wolfsburg Edition. :)

  3. The GLI is not considered a jetta, just as the GTI or R32 are not considered Rabbits by VW. The GLI is still made.

  4. Depending on the year, the jetta comes in a variety of different trims. For example the 06' model comes in six; 2.5 Value Edition, 2.5, 2.0T, GLI, TDI and TDI special edition. But the newer versions 2008 and 2009 comes in three standard trims S (base price 17,000) SE (base price 19,850) and SEL. (base price 22,900)
