  1. Newport Beach and parts of Laguna Beach are pretty clean :)

  2. San Clemente is nice. It has small waves most of the time. It is definitely a tourist spot.

Crescent Bay, Laguna beach is super nice.

The water is super clear you can actually see the sand and your feet- unlike san clemente. The waves break right on the shore. It is relatively uncrowded and the sand is beautiful. You can even snorkel there.

However don't go here if you are looking at bodyboarding and surfing- if you want to surf and bodyboard go to san clemente.

  3. Redondo Beach is cleaned and checked by crews every morning for litter and daily weather and ocean conditions.

San Clemente Beach is small but also is kept clean by caring crews.

That's in terms of human litter.

All Southern California beaches are subject to many ocean conditions from odd currents that can swirl in sewer drain waste into public areas to ocean waste such as seaweed that can pile up all over the shore and hang out in the breakers for days at a time.

It's unfair to blame bad beaches on one visit. You have to keep going back to find the perfect beach conditions, and then you may have a beautifully clean beach on a lame, cloudy day.

  4. I've always found Crystal Cove State Beach (between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach) to be very clean.
