What are the color corresponding to each iv cannula gauge. Thanks.?

It would be really nice if they'd standardize that.  If we get a transfer from another hospital, you don't know what size IV you have.

It actually varies by manufacturer. Here are two examples

" 24G x 3/4” Yellow

22G x 1” Blue

20G x 1” Pink

20G x 1 1/4” Pink

20G x 1 3/4” Pink

18G x 1 1/4” Green

18G x 1 3/4” Green

16G x 1 1/4” Gray

16G x 2 1/4” Gray

14G x 1 1/4” Orange

14G x 2 1/4” Orange

The gauge sizes are printed on the cannula.

It depends with each company.  Different companies use different colors, so there is no universal correspondence between color and gauge.  Do not rely on the colors.  Take the time to look on the packaging, or if you are getting report, make sure that you ask about what size IV the pt has if the nurse giving report does not mention it.
