  1. Common mistakes are spelling and mixing homonyms.  Then there's the over use of 'and then' creating massive run-on sentences.

    Here's an actual writing sample:

I saw on TV the Olimpics and I tought the opening ceramony was fun and the best part was the drummers.  My favorite sport are the water polo becaue it is like socer but there in the swiming pool.  Then US won gold in swiming.  I really like Micael Pflets becaue he is good and won gold for swiming and then they had to sing the National Antem.  I think I would like to be Micael Pflets one day.  I really like waching the Olimpics on TV becaue theres alot of stuff to watch.

  2. what's writins? i can see that is your mistake there. don't tell me i can't capitalize either  because i'm lazy to do it!

  3. If you want to look it up, there is a 6-part rubric used for most simple compositions, including conventions (punctuation, etc.), grammar, content, ...I forget the rest because I do not teach English where this rubric is widely used.  However, the most common I think is either conventions (mostly spelling) or grammar.

  4. Students, especially in composition writing are commonly make errors in spelling, diction or choice of words, and also with the syntax or the right placing of word or words in the sentence. All of these common errors make their writing or composition poor and could conclude no sense because the structure of their sentences has grammatical error.
