What are the components of fitness for rugby and why is it important

Well Stamina is definitely one component no matter where you are on a field you have to be able to run the whole 80 Min's or time given of the game and everyone gets the ball. you also need Reactions and Sight you need to have a good sight for opposition gaps and injuries with reactions you have to know what to do when to do it and quickly... Strength is possibly one you certainly need to use it on a rugby field to survive but i wouldn't say it definitely was a component.


  2. Well the two major things are Cardio and Stamina. The cardio is to get more oxygen into the body as you will tire whilst playing rugby. The stamin is to keep going. Fitness in rugby would generally be different to fitness in soccer or sprinting as you have to pick yourself up off the ground , make tackles , ruck, maul and all the rest. This is why being fit is generally a good idea playing rugby (or any other sport.)
