  1. I used to swim so I know a few things.  Coordination, Endurance, Strengh, Flexibility, and Willingness.  This are all great things you need to learn.  Coordination is needed because if you re a big clutz with sloppy movements you will never get anywhere. Practice the movements of the strokes slowly until you have them down properly.  Endurance is greatly needed because you are holding your breath while trying to race, no other sport is like that.  RUN, RUN, RUN, and RUN some more to build that up.  Strenght is always a big factor or else you can not pull your self through the water that is repelling against your body.  Flexibility may seem weird, but make sure you are able to do good stretches and other excersises to improve flip turns, kicking, overall stroke movements, also it will help with keeping muscles strong and not injured.  The last one is something YOU need to figure out on your own.  I was an excellent swimmer when I swam, but i hated the sport.  I was not willing so therefore i quit and was able to find my speed in track, amazing.  I hope you understand that one and good luck! =)

  2. stamina, muscle strength, coordination (between arms, legs and head), good lung capacity/strength and for diving or synchronised swimming, flexibility and balance.

  3. Well coordination you gotta keep your hands moving at the same place like beat..... because if one is faster than the other the slower hand just slows down everthing when they move at the same time you can move and glide more
