Question:

What are the conditions like commuting to work on a 125cc motorbike from Putney (or nearby) to Central London

Hi

I am moving to Putney shortly and am not looking forward to the SW trains sardine can service to Waterloo. I work in Farringdon so it would be a train to waterloo and a bus (243) to Farringdon which isn't great. Tubing it would take even longer I think and also be a fairly tight squeeze.

For these and other reasons, I am thinking of doing my CBT so I can buy a 125cc bike and drive to work. Google maps and theaa.com say it takes about 25 minutes (it's 7.2 miles) but I don't think this factors in traffic during peak hours (8am-9am and 6pm-7pm).

Does anyone else drive a similar route from an SW location to central London on a motorbike or scooter?

If so what are the conditions like (i.e. traffic, wet weather driving, driving time, road rage ;) etc).

Many Thanks

  1. Make sure that you take your cbt on a 125 geared bike or you will only be able to drive a 50cc scooter. The best and most reliable comuter is the honda CG 125. You can also use it to take you lessons and final test on. You can not take your final test on a scooter, it has to be a geared 125cc. If you passed your car test before 2001you can ride a 50cc scooter.
