The conflict was world war two,the compromises started with ignoring the brown shirt activist that a the time seemed a godsend to put order in the pre war caos of Germany,they continued with the apeasment in Munich that gave Germany Chekoslovakia and the deaf hear to the pleas of Jews and other minority that were being slaughtered by Hitler.

Hitler wanted to rule the world.

Had no one stopped him, then his children today would be rulling it.

The conflict is how bad should somone get before it is time for innocent bystanders to do something about it.  The longer you wait the more difficult it will be, and greater likelihood you will be dead first.

There is no compromise.
