(please don't jump to conclusions. i am not saying i will not complete summer reading! just curious for theories. please read the entire detail section, it's not that long :) )
i am entering 10th grade, and we have to read 4 books for summer reading. 2 books have to be from the summer reading list, 1 book is required, and 1 book can be of our choosing.
before i knew 2 of the books had to be from the list, i had read all 4 books from the twilight series. meaning, i'm pretty much wiped out from reading so much. i never read for fun. although i absolutely loved the twilight books, don't get me wrong.
now i am in a sticky situation where i haven't read the 2 books from the list. school starts in a week. i can pull it off if i really, really needed to. however, last year we didn't do any book reports on our books. this is why i'm sort of leaning towards not reading the 2 required books at all. (still haven't made my decision)
what would your school do?
btw, i go to a private girls school, i figure we will have too much to fit into english class for the year to focus on summer reading for too long.
are any of these following books good and short? able to be completed within a week? the books on the summer reading list are...
Too Late the Phalarope by Allan Paton
Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Till We Have Faces by C S Lewis
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
The Good Earth by Pearl Buck
