  1. Quite some time ago, John McEnroe was on Wimbledon's famous Centre Court, wearing his red, white, and blue, Davis Cup regalia. Well into the warm-ups, a tournament supervisor came out, and politely and quietly asked him to change (nobody in the television audience heard the words, and I doubt any but a few, near-at-hand, spectators heard it, but it was obvious what was said after the fact). You might think McEnroe would have exploded in rage, but, instead, he was clearly embarrassed at his obviously accidental faux pas, and, he, quite sheepishly, removed the offending attire, using a white shirt that he had in his tennis bag. When he returned to the warm-up, the spectators, who only then realized what had happened, applauded McEnroe, presumably for both his embarrassment and good manners. The chair umpire allowed additional time for the warm-up, which was understandable, as not having done so would have punished McEnroe's opponent, as well (sorry, I don't remember who the opponent was).

In case you're wondering why nobody caught McEnroe as he left the locker room, it is not considered anyone's job - - other than tournament officials - - to do so (the attendants and bag carriers are instructed not to say anything to anyone unless spoken to, and only if a reply is required).

So, no Tower of London, no beheadings,

no point deductions or fines or Code penalties.

Not even a right, short, sharp, shock!

Just a polite, but firm, word in the offender's ear!

Of course, it might be interesting to see how it would be handled

if the offender was a female player!  ;)

  2. Hmmm...i reckon they wouldnt let them play...plus it would be bad for their career/image becus its really unprofessional if they dont keep to the traditions of wimbledon

  3. You will be locked up in the Wimby locker rooms. And you will never see the daylight. Besides the royal guards will stop you from entering the court to play.

  4. You get turned into a Womble.
