  1. .  You don't want your acne creams to be marketed in retirement communities or on shows about old people.  THis is a constant struggle. That's why so many tv shows brag that they are Number 1 in the 18-34 age group.  

    So you want to identify your advantages and position them for your target audience.


  2. Well, positioning is powerful; it's part of what makes one product or service stand out from the rest.  

    So if you know what your competitive advantages are, you find all the ways to use that knowledge...like using the facts (what's special, different, unique, new about your product or service) and use these facts in your marketing and advertising.

    The world is packed full of "stuff" and "noise."  So to break through all of that and get your product or service noticed, you've got to give consumers REASONS.

    Competitive advantages help you position your BENEFITS (not simply stating your features) so they get noticed by potential buyers, and then those reasons help CONVERT folks into buyers.
