I want something close to the beach, but quite trendy and fun! All the places I have looked at around the beach suburbs are quite old and not very nice! Anyone who knows ANYTHING about Perth please help out!!!!! :)

  1. As Ben said, you have just described Fremantle. Its cool down there. I will also shoot myself in the foot if you don't love it!

  2. From your description, Fremantle is the place you want to be,

close to the beach, but quite trendy and fun! It you dont love it, i will shoot myself in the foot!...

  3. If you want to live near the beach and in a newer suburb then I recommend Hillarys and Hillarys Harbour.

Here are some sites to look at.

Hillarys is one of the Northern Beaches in Perth.

I have always liked Cottesloe Beach but like you mentioned you want to stay away from older suburbs. Next choice would be Scarborough Beach. But it's still a little on the older side.

I have 2 nephews that are in there 20's and live in Perth. They   surf a lot at Hillarys Beach and the beaches that are close the there.

    Hope this helps you out.

  4. hillaries mullaloo and ocean reef all too expensive, suburbs like kingsley and greenwood are all relatively close like a 2 minute drive to good beaches and alot cheaper!

  5. Secret Harbour. Its a new-ish area and near a VERY nice beach. its very safe and it has alot of festivals around there.

  6. Coogee Marina, or Leighton Beach would probably fit your bill.

They are brand new and include apartments, and are really close to Fremantle!

Otherwise only Scarborough has Apartment/Unit style accommodation on a large scale.

Everywhere else is only Family Houses and nothing for single people to live in, if you search the listings in REIWA website you will see what I mean.

  7. I would totally recommend Fremantle as well - that is the definition of trendy and fun and you will love it.  I also like Cottesloe and Scarborough, but they are older suburbs.  Go for Freo!
