What are the copyright laws on flickr?

i want to use one of the photo's that is posted on Flickr to make a vector. and then post the final vector on deviantart.com. and i would post a link to the original photo and give credit to that person who took the photo. is this legal or illegal. and what would i have to go through so i can do this?

  1. You will need to get written permission to use the persons photo.  Here is what they have stated in the Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy.

    It is Yahoo!’s policy, in appropriate circumstances and at its discretion, to disable and/or terminate the accounts of users who may infringe or repeatedly infringe the copyrights or other intellectual property rights of Yahoo! and/or others.

  2. Why not just email the O W N E R  of the work and ask them how they feel about you using their work?
