I really never understand how poverty is measured, In terms of economics; country improvements in general; political and social issues; or everything in general? Can you give me a website where criteria has been given as a leverage to consider as poor country? Not just your personal opinion but an accurate information for this.

  1. The United Nations developed the Human development index to overcome this exact problem.  It combines a measure of life expectancy, literacy, educational attainment, and GDP per capita.  So search for a countries HDI to find out whether it's in the low or high range.  Closer to 1 is high.

  2. If most of the people of a country are unable to provide for themselves and their families, the basic things in life such as adequate food and a reasonably comfortable place to stay, then that country is impoverished in my book. If the people have no hope, only broken dreams, and false expectancy and aspiration, that country is impoverished. Many countries throughout the world fall in this category.
