Most of the Chinese that have immigrated to the Philippines over the years have taken on Filipino names to avoid discrimination.  Filipino surnames have a long history of change  (see source).  In the early 1800's, the Filipino people did not have a surname (or family name).  That still holds true in Indonesia, where often someone has only one name.  But during Spanish occupation, Filipinos were required to adapt a family name.  The range of names chosen were large and diverse, making it difficult to identify a surname which is distinctly Filipino.  Trying to identify Chinese Filipino surnames is virtually impossible.
