What are the damaging effects of chlorine to hair?

I was in the pool for about an hour today and I won't wash my hair until morning... what's going to happen?

It dries out a lot, and can become strawlike...but a one off won't do anything

It'll dry out. Just make sure you put some conditioner in it when you wash it next. That should help bring it back to its normal texture. Otherwise it just might feel dry and strawlike.
