  1. The dams could be set up to prevent wave damage against the coast line or could be underwater turbine for electricity

There is Lexington Reservoir along Hwy 17 on the way to Santa Cruz.  Further downstream on Los Gatos Creek there Vasona Lake next to Hwy 17 just south of Hwy 85.  Then there is Almalden Reservoir at the south end of Almaden Quicksilver Park.  Calero Reservoir is about 3 mile east of Almaden Reservoir along McKean Rd. as well as Guadalupe Reservoir about 6 miles north of Almaden Reservoir next to Hicks Rd on the west side Almaden Quicksilver Park.

    All of these dams have drainages that flow down through the greater San Jose area.  Use Google Maps and you can see satellite images of them.  If you use TopoZone you can find the elevation of the spillways as well as the coordinates for each.
