  2. The principle dangers of democracy is that people can become heated and excited by demagogues; they abandon reason in favour of catchy slogans or jump to conclusions and egg each other on in crowds and mobs.

    Pure democracy is tyranny, worshiping a mathematical majority over the fact of whether the majority's decision is right in its decision.  A lynch mob is a democracy, for example; a court of law is purposefully undemocratic.

  3. In a democracy, the people vote on all the proposed laws under which they will be governed.  This is cumbersome, so it has never been tried on a large scale.
