What are the difference between the aluminum and the steel cargo hitch carrier?

  1. Aluminum is a thinner metal, but is pretty strong none the less. I would prefer steel myself, though.

    But thats just me.

  3. The aluminum unit is lighter but just as strong (as far the capacity of the carrier)  If your hitch (toungue weight) is rated for a lower capacity and your cargo will get you close to that capacity, go aluminum to allow more cargo.  (Like if you are putting on a car)..

    If you are mounting on the back of a larger vehicle such a full size truck or SUV and your hitch weight (toungue weight) capacity isn't an issue.....go steel.

    Essentially, the more expensive, lighter aluminum gets you more cargo if your tongue weight is the restriction on what you put on the carrier.

    One will not wobble, etc any more than the other if they fit appropriately in the receiver.  Aluminum obviously doesn't corrode like a cheaper steel, either.
