What are the difference in requirements of becoming a P.E. teacher at the elementary level or highschool level

I know I want to become a Physical education teacher,but I dont know what level I want to teach. Im aware that for both levels you must obtain a bachelors degree and a teaching credential, but are there any other differnences in requirements,etc.?? thanks.

  1. Well, elementary public schools do not have P.E. teachers, in ca. that is, but private schools do. However, middle school and high school have full time PE teachers. No difference in requirements.


  2. In most states, the PE certification in K-12, meaning you can teach any grade level with it. If you are teaching HS, some schools want their PE teachers to also be certified in driver's ed - it's not a state requirement, but it could help with finding a job. You might also want to be aware the middle/high school teachers often teach health classes too. Whether you want to do that could give you some guidance on which setting you'd rather work in.

    However, the education required is the same for all of them, so you have a little while to decide which age group you want to teach.
