  1. sinigang has different type but the most common is the tamarind soup, nilaga is boiled soup, tinola is gingered chicken soup. lol......

  2. sinigang used a tamarind base for the broth so it's sour tasting.  has bits of tomatoe and spinach and diacon.  can be cooked with shrimp or fish but more beef or pork.

nilaga is a plain broth with potatoes, cabbage and carrots and usually pork or beef bones.

tinola is a soup cooked with chicken, wedges of green papaya, and chili pepper leaves, in broth flavored with ginger, onions and fish sauce (wikipedia)

    they are all common soups..

  3. Sinigang is a sour soup with meat or fish. It could be cooked using tamarind, young tamarind leaves, "camias", miso, guava or "calamansi", a Philippine citrus fruit.  You can also put in meat (pork, beef or chicken), or fish, and vegetables. You can also just boil it or also saute it with garlic, onion and tomato to make it more flavorful.

With nilaga, you generally boil the meat or fish until tender and just season it with salt and/or pepper to taste. Add vegetables and it's done.

With tinola, chicken is generally used. It is like nilaga but you saute ginger, garlic, onion and tomato first, then add the chicken and chayote or young papaya fruit (sliced bite-size) and "sili" or chili pepper leaves.

All three dishes are treated as soup and main course in one.

  4. i'm not much acquainted with their dishes but all i know is that "sinigang" has to have tamarind base when they cook it. so it's a bit sour.

when you talked about "nilaga" it could have something to do with meat or beef or chicken for soup.

about "tinola", i think it's purely for cooking fish soup. but as i said am not quite sure, though i have tasted it all and well i love their "tinolang isda" that was in Barrio Fiesta restaurant when my friends brought me there when i had my vacation in the Phils.

  5. ♦ sinigang - is just like nilaga and tinola but, its sour.

♦ nilaga - is just meat boiled with some vegies and seasoning

♦ tinola - chicken meat boiled with little vigies. thats in manila, in cebu it can be fish or chicken.

  6. .......sinigang uses pork, nilaga uses beef and tinola uses chicken.
