What are the differences between Campbell Biology 7th Edition and 8th Edition?

Last semester I spent over $175 for the 7th edition Campbell Reece Biology Textbook for one of my college classes. My campus bookstore would not buy it back because a new 8th edition that was just released. Now another one of my college classes for THIS semester wants be to buy the 8th edition of Campbell for another $175.

I'm extremely annoyed because I don't have the money to spend another $175 on a newer edition textbook that I barely used for six months. I'm considering not purchasing the new book and continuing to use the 7th edition.

I'd like to know however:

Is the material different?

Are the chapter numbers different?

Or are they trying to sell the same book with a different cover to get college students to spend an extra $200 on textbooks that they can't afford?

Thank you

  1. more than likely, its the same content in the same book with a different cover. thats how most college texts work. the only issue i could probably see is it probably has different page numbers, maybe a few more pictures, but always the same text. i actually got on just now to ask the same question lol.

if someones got a problem with it, just put a book cover on it. Voila! that will get them to shut up.

ill keep this updated to make sure you get the absolute answer, my classes start next monday.
