  1. Don't get vista, it's horrible. It has so many glitches.

    Just use XP

  2. Vista really has no advantages over Windows XP besides looking pretty, other than that it does the same thing that Windows XP does and has a lot more problems.

One of the major selling points was Direct X 10 which supposedly made games a lot better, turned out to be indistinguishable.

There are very few pieces of software that actually need to run on Vista.

  3. I bought Vista, I hated it. You loose alot of your privacy. To many restrictions. If you are downloading something for free, They will know about it. I switched back to XP all the way.

  4. Vista is Microsoft's way to compete with the MAC.  I recently upgraded to Vista from XP and it removed all files from my computer and i lost 90% of my files including photos, reports, etc.  The GUI is the main attraction to Vista but it has so many bugs it makes it difficult  to use.  Every time i turn on my computer my home page changes and its very frustrating.  Overall i would stay with XP till they fix the problems.

  5. vista is the latest version of windows, and xp is the old one..you should choose the new one because it has many updated software and applications. it is also user-friendly..it means it is much more easier to use than in xp..

  6. For all the reasons stated above, STAY with XP, and, if not done, upgrade with SP3 (free if your XP is legit')

I would wait at least SP2 for Vista (this means another 2-5 years).

On the other hand, many "Big" programs are not yet compiled to run on Vista, so your favorite compiler or your favorite game may not work on Vista, unless you RE-buy these programs or buy an upgrade.

In any case, Vista will cost you money!

In my humble opinion, XP is the best OS Microsoft has ever made...

Make sure you keep your win XP SP2 CD in a safe place...

(PS: just bought a new laptop, with Vista.  Had to remove it and install XP...)

  7. Vista had several improvements. Mostly regarding security and user-friendly-ness.

On the other hand, Vista is mostly just eye candy that hogs up immense system resources.

Since i'm a video-gamer, media editor etc. I need my system at full performance, this is why i switched back to XP.

XP was a solid Operating System for Microsoft, if not their best one to date.

To get more in detail i suggest you just Google Vista vs XP.

I'd say avoid Vista, unless you want you PC running like total c**p within a few months.
